A good friend introduced Cheryl to the classical model of learning when she first started homeschooling her three children in 2005. She believed in this style of learning, but she found it difficult to reproduce at home what she had read in books. It wasn’t until she attended her first Classical Conversations practicum two years later that she finally saw the classical method come to life! Cheryl states, “I thank the Lord for bringing Classical Conversations into our lives; it has given me direction for planning our studies and the confidence to homeschool our children through high school. I know God has called me to dedicate this season of my life to homeschooling my children and helping others to succeed in this area.”
The direction and support she receives from Classical Conversations have greatly contributed to her growth and maturity as a homeschooling mother and equipped her to mentor others along the journey to “know God and make Him known.” Being a Regional Manager for the Eastern Mid-Atlantic area provides her the opportunity to walk alongside other CC leaders equipping them to “change the face of education” in their communities. Cheryl and her husband, Paul, live in Bowie, MD and have been married for almost 17 years. They consider it a privilege to be a part of such a vibrant, successful program and are thankful for the impact Classical Conversations has had in their family.
After homeschooling her three children for 15 years, Lynn realized her family didn’t have a plan or a vision to homeschool through high school. The Bible is very clear about this matter in Proverbs 29:18, “Without a vision, the people will perish.” Lynn vowed to seek the Lord and His plan for her family’s education – one that would honor Him. She diligently searched for the solution and discovered Classical Conversations in 2010. CC was still new in New Jersey, so Lynn agreed to invest her many years of homeschool leadership experience to help develop new CC communities in order to share this exciting program with other families.
As a Support Manager for Northwestern NJ, Lynn is passionate about equipping parents to be successful in providing for their children a strong classical Christian education. She is excited to enable other leaders and teachers to come along side of like-minded families to partner with them in their homeschool journey. Lynn plans to open two additional communities thereby allowing greater accessibility to anyone who desires to be involved. Her long-term goal is to raise up a thriving, stable Challenge program so that homeschooling through high school becomes a reality not only for her children, but for others as well.
